Bill Landed in Normandy 28 June at Mulberry B (Gold Beach)
Driving his halftrack he went straight into action.
Bill was involved in seizing bridges, lifting mines, drove through German strongholds and took prisoners of war.
He then went on to fight through France, Belgium and the Netherlands, including Operation Market-Garden.
On the night of the 26 September a furious firefight broke out when the Germans counter attacked and Bill was injured.
He then proceeded to Belson to move the displaced people from the Concentration camp.
Bill survived the war and passed away aged 89.
