Bill served as a Telegrapher on Landing Ship Tank (LST) 410. On 5th July his ship sailed from Southampton as part of the Group heading for Juno Beach carrying Canadian soldiers. On 6th July his ship beached on Juno Beach, specifically Couseulles Sur Mer, under fire enabling the embarked Canadian soldiers and tanks to storm the beach under fire of the entrenched enemy. His ship pulled itself off the beach using its rear anchor and returned to England making further crossings that day and following days carrying further soldiers and supplies.
