Arthur Jack Cork (Jack)
Arthur served in the 2nd battalion of the Gloucester Regiment.
Like a lot of young men on that fateful day, private Arthur Cork stood in his boat ready to give his life for king and country. The beach was Gold Beach, the day was June 6, 1944 D Day. As the door to the boat lowered, Private Cork shed his gear and was left with a rifle, bullets and digging tool. He saw the cottage on the French coast and his brothers strewn about the beach. But, nevertheless, he pushed on with a brave face and fought for the man beside him.
