Normandy Campaign – Clifford landed on Gold Beach at Ver-sur-Mer on D Day+1 having boarded the ship with his vehicle at Felixstowe two weeks before departing for Normandy. 

His was the first vehicle to drive off the landing craft which delivered him up to the area fronting onto the blockhouse. He completed his service in Germany in November 1946 having progressed through France, Belgium and The Netherlands including time on Walcheren Island concluding  in Germany.
